0.01 Rounding behaviour in GL when accounted_dr <> accounted_cr due to currency conversion (Doc ID 412494.1)

Last updated on MARCH 12, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle General Ledger - Version 11.5.10.2 to 11.5.10.2 [Release 11.5.10]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

A foreign currency journal with entered_dr = entered_cr got imported to GL.
Due to the currency conversion rate the journal gets imported with accounted_dr not equal accounted_cr (difference is 0.01).

After the journal got posted, the accounted_dr is equal accounted_cr which derives from the fact, that the amount of one row was rounded with 0.01 to balance the complete journal. There is no comment in the journal line explaining why the system did this or why this amount was used for rounding. Finally this behaviour might be unexpected as it is expected the journal to fail due to a imbalance between debit and credit.
