Pdf Report Prints in Portrait vs Landscape -Pdf2ps Vs Pdftops (Doc ID 419463.1)

Last updated on MAY 07, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Application Object Library - Version to [Release 11.5]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

On 11.5.0 in Production:
Set up XML publisher and followed all necessary steps for printing
using PASTA.cfg. On past engagements this process has worked very well but
currently the reports which are landscape in orientation are printing portrait.
The culprit may be the pdf2ps script as the ps file is
created and then lp print the file and it prints landscape

Expect to be able to print landscape

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Choose any landscape pdf report and print it to a postscript printer that has
been identified in the uiprint.txt as na postscript printer

Workarounds Used
Manual manipulation of the ps file created and command line printing of the
file. This is how we changed it:
GS_pswrite_2_0_1001 begin
792 612 /letter setpagesize
/pagesave save store 197 dict begin
0.1 0.1 scale
(changed the /letter on the 3rd line to null)
GS_pswrite_2_0_1001 begin
792 612 null setpagesize
/pagesave save store 197 dict begin
0.1 0.1 scale

The issue has the following business impact:
Need the ability to print pdf and xml reports.
