Can see Categories but not the Items when adding product to opp/leads

Symptoms
Oracle Sales (ASN), Release 12.
Cannot see Items while adding products to Opportunities/Leads.
The Product Categories are displayed but the Items within them are not visible.
EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
List of items should be displayed.
-- Steps To Reproduce:
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Login to Oracle Sales
2. Click on the Opportunities/Leads shortcut link
3. Open an opportunity/Lead
4. Go to Products tab
5. Click on the Add Product button
6. Here the user can see Categories only, not the Items themselves
