Calculate Gains & Losses Completed In Error:ORA-01476 (Doc ID 457207.1)

Symptoms

On 11.5.10 in Production:
When attempting to run Calculate Gains and Losses,
the following error occurs.

ERROR
ORA-01476: divisor is equal to zero
Error: function FA_GAINLOSS_UPD_PKG.farboe returned failure
Error: function FA_GAINLOSS_UPD_PKG.fagpdp returned failure
User Defined Exception
Error: function FA_GAINLOSS_UPD_PKG.fagpdp returned failure
FAGPDP: Fail to insert Depreciation adjustmens for asset 01462E

Cause: You have a database problem
Action: Contact your system administrator

Error: function fa_gainloss_ret_plg.fagret returned failure
FAGRET: Fail to retire asset 12345

Cause: You have a database problem
Action: Contact your system adminitrator.

Error: function fa_gainloss_pro_pkg.fagpsa returned failure
Error: function FA_GAINLOSS_PKG.do_calc_gainloss_asset returned failure


STEPS
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Asset was retired in current month with back dated retirment date.
2. Calculate Gains and Losses run without error.
3. NBV was incorrect for asset so reinstated the asset in current month.
4. Calculate Gains and Losses run without error.
5. Depreciate box unchecked in "Books" form
6. Asset re-retired and backdated to original retirement date.
7. Calculate Gains and Losses run with error.


BUSINESS IMPACT
The issue has the following business impact:
Due to this issue, users cannot close period.
