R12:GLPPOS Posting Fails with "Unopened reporting currency period" (Doc ID 459056.1)

Symptoms

In Release 12, when running posting in the Primary Ledger, which has a reporting currency assigned to it. Posting fails with:
"Unopened reporting currency period".

When review the journal batch, it shows :
Error31 - Unopened reporting currency period.
