Goal

1) Assume a product has an Extended Warranty (or a Service Agreement) contract that is Active. A new product is shipped to the customer as an Advanced Replacement, replacing the defective product. The original Extended Warranty subline is terminated on the Start Date of the subline, not on the day that the product is replaced. A new subline is added to the Extended Warranty contract with the same Start Date as that of the original subline.

Why does this occur? (Why is the current date not used?)

2) Assume a product has a Warranty that is Active. A new product is shipped to the customer as an Advanced Replacement, replacing the defective product. The Warranty subline is terminated effective on the date the new product is shipped. If the Warranty is eligible for transfer, a new Warranty subline is added to the contract. This new subline begins on the date that the replacement product is shipped.

Why does this occur?

STEPS:
----------

1. Navigate to Setups > Transaction Subtypes using the Oracle Installed Base Admin responsibility.

2. Create a subtype with these attributes:

Source Info:

Change Owner = checkbox enabled
Change Owner To = External
Status = Desired Active status

Non Source Info:

Reference Reqd = checkbox enabled
Status = Desired Active status

This setup will allow users to ship a product and allow the extended warranties to be transferred to the new product.

3. Create a sales order and then an order line for the new product.

4. Enter the product reference number in the Non Source subtab of the Installation Details (Actions button).

5. Ship the product.

6. Review the Extended Warranty contracts.

- The original contract subline is terminated, effective on the original start date of the contract subline.

- A new contract subline is created, effective on the start date of the original contract subline.
