Can FA Book Controls Current Open Period be Updated By a Script ? (Doc ID 463931.1)

Goal

Setup of the Asset Book was done in a current period some time back, (01-JAN-1970).  Can this be changed with a script in these scenarios:

a.  no asset is entered and no depreciation is run for book yet
b.  no asset is entered but depreciation has been run (for example, from 1970 to 1975)
c.  assets are entered but no depreciation is run
