Bad performance of Apache when filesystem is NFS mounted (Doc ID 467315.1)

Last updated on DECEMBER 04, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle E-Business Suite Performance - Version to 12.1.3 [Release 11.5.10 to 12.1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.
This problem can occur on any platform.
This applies when the middle tier (Apache) is installed in a filesystem is not in local disks, like NFS mounted disks or Network Storage Devices.
This is the case, for example, when using Shared APPL_TOP installations

When apache log files are not in local disks, you might see some situations where the response time for the application is a lot longer than normal. For example, taking 5 minutes to login.

In this situation, although the response time is long, there is not much cpu consumption in any tier: sqltrace will not show any time, jvms will not be consuming cpu, but the response time is still very long.
