At the stage of the sales cycle, there is no value that the system assesses on an Opportunity based on a price list, the amount field is not mandatory and defaulted as $0.00. 
The price is correctly assigned when the quote is created and the price engine is run.

The requirement is to have, already at opportunity stage, the price list linked so sales rep can automatically see the amount validated with price list value.
