Goal
Why is the ship set field in the Release Rules form disabled?
The Release Rules form only accepts a ship set number and/or the field becomes enabled only when a sales order number is entered manually. The following scenario is a business requirement that is needed to be accomplished using release rules and running the Pick Release SRS program:
- Order has 2 lines with two different ship sets, for example ship set numbers 1 and 2.
- Run Pick Release SRS with a pick release rule independently only for this order. When order number is entered, the ship set field becomes enabled. The ship set number 1 is entered and Pick Release SRS is submitted and order is released. The first order line is assigned a delivery.
- Pick Release SRS is run again with the same order number, but with another ship set number of 2 for which the second order line will get assigned another delivery.
However, in the Pick Release SRS, a user can only enter a release rule name, but the release rule setup does not allow the ship set number to be entered alone, only with an order number. If the ship set field is enabled without having to enter an order number, then the Pick Release SRS can be submitted multiple times based upon only ship set numbers.
