Purpose

The majority of the Self Service pages in the E-Business Suite R11.5.10 and R12 are built using the Oracle Application Framework (OAF). When something fails inside these pages you often will see the following error message:

You have encountered an unexpected error. Please contact the System  Administrator for assistance.

This is a generic error message not giving any details about what fails exactly. This makes it difficult to search for known issues describing this specific issue.

This Note describes the steps to identify the stack trace behind this error and how to perform a first assessment. With this information it may be possible to identify a root-cause and resolve the issue or provide the level of detail required for the Service Request logged with Oracle Support
