Running "Workflow Background Process" During Day Time Hangs For 'OM Order Line' Parameter (Doc ID 564504.1)

Symptoms

Running concurrent request "Workflow Background Process" with following parameters takes very long time (3-5 hours) and never completes

Item type : OM Order Line
Process Deferred : Yes
Process Timeout : Yes
Process Stuck : Yes

It is terminated as it is supposed to complete within 10 minutes as part of daily operation, It is scheduled to run every 15 minutes.
Concurrent request "Purge Obsolete Workflow Runtime Data" completes successfully.

Next running the  "Workflow Background Process" with the same parameters completes successfully within short time in the late evening / night when no user activity is happening.

'Gather Schema Statistics' concurrent request is run periodically for ALL schemas.
