Cannot Delete Attribute Group from Item Catalog Category -- Error EGO_ASSOCIATED_AG_IN_USE (Doc ID 567725.1)

Symptoms

Unable to delete a user defined attribute group from an item catalog category. There are no items that have values for any of the attributes in the attribute group and there are no pages that display the attribute group.

Attempting to delete the attribute group generates the following error message.

Error (EGO_ASSOCIATED_AG_IN_USE)
The Association for Attribute Group <Attribute Group Display Name> cannot be deleted, because it is currently in use.

-or-

(EGO_EF_ASSOCS_EXIST1)
You cannot delete the Attribute Group abc, because it has has Associations.

-or-

(EGO_EF_ASSOCS_EXIST2)
You cannot delete the Attribute xyz, because its Attribute Group abc has Associations.

Steps To Reproduce:

1. Navigate to Development Manager > Setup > Setup Workbench
2. Select an Item Catalog Category
3. Click Attribute Groups
4. Select a User Defined Attribute Group
5. Click Delete
6. Receive Error Message
