When creating an internal order from the parts requirement form, the item is supplied to the desired sub-inventory, but there is no reservation for the item, which means that the item can be used for other customers. Another result of this is that the planning reports (e.g. the min-max planning) does not see the part of on-hand quantity that should be reserved and hence bases the order recommendations on incorrect quantities.

This document shows how to ensure a reservation is created when a requisition for a parts requirement is received.
