Symptoms
In e-Business Suite 11i, or since upgrading e-Business Suite from 11.5.x to R12, users' sessions have been timing out and archive logs filling up when being written to from the GL_BIS_SEGVAL_INT temporary table. As a result, the instance has ground to a halt.
Additional issues reported: unable to login or performance issues.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE (sample, as the symptoms may vary from one instance to another):
- As EBS user, attempt to login to Oracle Applications
- Observe this is not possible as the page takes a large amount of time to show up
- System Administrator - observe that table GL.GL_BIS_SEGVAL_INT generates a lot of archive redo
Changes
Events which can trigger this issue have included but are not restricted to:
E-Business Suite upgrade from 11.5.x to 12.x.
Database upgrade from 9i to 10g or later.
