R12: Defining Intracompany Rules Throws 'The Intercompany Segment Value of the Debit Account selected does not match the Credit Balancing Segment Value' (Doc ID 745793.1)

Symptoms

Attempting to define Intracompany rules between two specific segments, where the Accounting Flexfield's definition does not include Intercompany segment, an Error is thrown:

ERROR:
The Intercompany Segment Value of the Debit Account selected does not match the Credit Balancing Segment Value. Change the Credit Balancing Segment Value or the Debit Account's Intercompany Segment'.

 

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. General Ledger responsibility > Accounting Setup Manager
  2. Update the ledger where the chart of accounts does not include Intercompany segment for the Accounting Flexfield
  3. Try to define Intracompany rules between two specific segments
  4. See the error on the page
