Cannot View PO PDF Output (Doc ID 746854.1)

In Release 12,

User tried to create a PO which is still in incomplete stage.
When he tries to view PDF, they get the error message:
"System failed to generate PDF. Please contact System Administrator"

After submitting the same PO for approval, they get the error:
"The system could not generate the PDF for viewing this document. There is no layout template specified for this document type."

Note that the customer is using "Standard Purchase Order Stylesheet" for document layout for Purchase Order standard document.

Also, running the PO Output for Communication, results in following error in the log:

Preparing to archive the PDF..
getArchiveOn(): null
getArchiveOn()=null m_viewOrCommunicate=Communicate
getArchiveOn(): null
genDoc() : Exceptionjava.lang.NullPointerException
at oracle.apps.po.communicate.PoGenerateDocument.genDoc(
