Symptoms

This note is relevant to users who wish to launch Discoverer 10.1.2 Plus via a custom function from any e-Business Suite menu before choosing a workbook. Users who wish to launch workbooks directly from menus should refer to <Note 471303.1> (R12) or <Note 278095.1> (R11i).

It is helpful to new users of Discoverer 10g and to users who have upgraded their e-Business Suite to R12 (and have also perhaps upgraded Discoverer 4i to 10g following <Note 373634.1>), and find that their custom function no longer works.

For example, the user may find that whilst the menu option to launch the Viewer works fine, when he clicks on the menu option for Discoverer Plus, it launches the Viewer and not Plus as expected. In this scenario, users expect to use Discoverer Viewer to run reports off the Applications Mode End User Layer, or to run them via Discoverer Plus if they prefer.

Steps To Reproduce:
1. Log in to e-Business Suite 12.0.4.
2. Choose any responsibility from which users can invoke Discoverer Plus.
3. The menu option launches Discoverer Viewer instead of Discoverer Plus.

Business Impact:
All e-BS users need to be able to use Discoverer Plus.

Changes

The function may have stopped working due to an upgrade to e-BS R12. This is because the function works differently in R12 from earlier versions of eBS.

Changing the profile option ICX:DISCOVERER Use Viewer to Yes or NO will have no effect. This controls which Discoverer module is launched when a workbook is run from an eBS menu.
