The opmn.log is flooded with "[ons-connect] ... missing connect/missing form factor" Errors (Doc ID 782051.1)

Last updated on APRIL 04, 2025

Applies to:

Oracle E-Business Suite Technology Stack - Version 12.0 to 12.1.3 [Release 12.0 to 12.1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Reviewing the $LOG_HOME/ora/10.1.3/opmn/opmn.log file shows it's flooded with lines like these:

<time stamp> [ons-connect] Local connection 82,127.0.0.1,6113 invalid form factor
<time stamp> [ons-connect] Passive connection 44d87c,127.0.0.1,6113 missing connect
<time stamp> [ons-connect] Local connection 44d87d,127.0.0.1,6113 invalid form factor

The '6113' listed here may be different. The 6113 is the local ONS port specified in $INST_TOP/ora/10.1.3/opmn/conf/opmn.xml file, like:

<port local="6113" remote="6213" request="6503"/>

The Release 12 environment does not show any problems and functions as expected.

The high amount of log entries for these messages create a very large opmn.log. This eventually could cause problems if the server runs out of available disk space or into limits set for the maximum file size.
