Goal

Asset Serial Number does not default to the value of Asset Number.
As per Oracle Enterprise Asset Management Implementation Guide Release 12
"The Asset Serial Number defaults to the Asset Number."

   Asset Number: <Asset Number>
   Asset Group: <Asset Group>
   Asset Serial Number: <Asset Number> ===> same as Asset Number
