Unable to Purge Closed SERVEREQ Workflow Items (Doc ID 803192.1)

Symptoms

Although the Purge Obsolete Workflow Runtime Data concurrent program is periodically run, a number of closed SERVEREQ items keep on increasing in the WF_ITEMS table.

This can be checked by running the following script at different intervals:

select item_type, count(*) 
from WF_ITEMS 
where END_DATE IS NOT NULL
and item_type = 'SERVEREQ' 
group by item_type; 

Alternatively one can check the number of the closed SERVEREQ workflow items in bde_wf_data.sql script output (see <NOTE:165316.1> " bde_wf_data.sql - Query Workflow Runtime Data That Is Eligible For Purging").

 

Note:

This problem often results in huge volumes in WF_ITEM_ATTRIBUTE_VALUES table then leading to performance issues.
