Goal

This document explains how to create a Java heapdump and how to analyze generated report using 3rd party tools. It is intended for experienced E-Business Suite DBAs.

A heapdump will show current memory allocation details within JVM. It is usually used when investigating java.lang.OutOfMemory errors or memory leaks.

A heapdump will not show current status of running threads. Java stack traces should be generated as explained in  <Note 833913.1>
