Unable To Print PDF Documents Through Pasta After PDF2PS Conversion (Doc ID 838403.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 18, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Application Object Library - Version 12.0.6 to 12.1.3 [Release 12 to 12.1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Having configured pasta PDF printing (using GhostScript and pdf2ps), each time an attempt to send a
pdf (converted by pdf2ps) to the printer is made a standard error page from the printer referencing
an undefined error is given.

Set PostScript Error printing on for the printer you use. On the command-line run PDF2PS using a
sample PDF document. This will produce a file with the same name as the original, just with a .ps
extention. Have GhostScript 8.62 installed and have configured the past_pdf.cfg file to reference
pdf2ps.

Have traced the problem to the physical execution of the command pdf2ps <filename.pdf>
<filename.ps>. When we execute this command, we do not get any errors, but if we print the
<filename.ps> file to our printer, we get an error output page as follows:

ERROR
undefined
OFFENDING COMMAND: fi
STACK:

/
/guilsinglright
/guilsingllleft
/
/
etc...
