OPatch Not Able to Get Details Of The Oracle Home From The OraInventory While Applying Patch 5490840 (Doc ID 838987.1)

While Applying RDBMS Patch 5490840 it fails with the following error :

The Oracle Home $ORACLE_HOME/9.2.0 is not registered with the Central Inventory. OPatch was not able to get details of the home from the inventory.
ERROR: OPatch failed because of Inventory problem.
