Not Able To Fetch Sales Order Line in Reference Field for a Referenced Return Sales Order (Doc ID 844217.1)

On 12.0.5 in Production:
When attempting to create a Referenced return Order , Order Line segment of the Additional Line Return Information Descriptive Flexfield does not show the Line
numbers of the referenced order and clicking on the Order Line gives the following error

No entries found for List of Values

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
Oracle Order management > Orders / Returns > Sales Orders

Enter Header details

In the Line Items Main Tab
Enter the Ordered Item i.e the item to be returned and Quantity
Enter the Line Type

Returns Tab
Return Reason:Order Entry Error
Reference field > Reference type: Sales Order; Enter Order Number: click on Order Line segment            It pops up a message "No entries found for List of Values"

The issue has the following business impact:
Due to this issue, users cannot issue a new sales order to the customer by returning the current sales order.
