Workflow Issue When Dealing With Ex-Employee In Hierarchy (Doc ID 852817.1)

Symptoms

On 11.5.10.2 in Production:


When an ex-employee is in the supervisor hierarchy the workflow reports this and send a notification to SYSADMIN to remove the person from the hierarchy. In the past the SYSADMIN would take this action and select "done" which would then complete the workflow.

Recently these workflow create a child workflow to send the notification to SYSADMIN.  Once SYSADMIN take the action and select DONE the parent workflow doesn't complete.  This results in stuck transactions awaiting action and
the following error occurs:

ORA-20001: Unable to build the Supervisor Hierarchy, no person record exists with the person id 12345 as of sysdate.
Please contact your System Administrator to correct the data issue.


Work Around


Steps To Reproduce:
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

1. Manager Self-service
2. Change Manager
3. Select an employee
4. Submit the transaction.

There is obviously an ex-employee in the supervisor hierarchy of the person submitting this transaction.
