Symptoms
You are configuring workflow notification mailer in Oracle Application Manager (OAM). After entering information in the E-Mail Servers page (ie the page where the Inbound and Outbound E-Mail servers are defined); you receive the following error:
Unhandled Exception when creating a folder -> javax.mail.AuthenticationFailedException: Command received in Invalid state.
Stack Trace -> javax.mail.AuthenticationFailedException:

The telnet test to the IMAP server on port 143 also fails with "Command received in Invalid state":
