Symptoms

Opening the first period of the next fiscal year takes a long time when the data volume is extremely large (approaching a billion rows in GL_BALANCES table).
It completes successfully.  However, the program may take over 48 hours to complete.


Changes

This occurs especially where the General Ledger (GL) core tables are extremely large.
The core GL tables are partitioned.
