When installing Oracle Insurance Data Foundation (OIDF) 8.0 in an environment with Java 8, following the instructions in "Oracle Financial Services Insurance Data Foundation Installation Manual Release Java 7 and Java 8", you get the following error running the Schema Creator utility with the silent option:

$ ./osc.sh -s
You have chosen ONLINE mode
Triggering the utility in ONLINE mode will execute the DDLs directly on the Data
base. Do you wish to proceed? (Y/y or N/n):
Java Validation Started ...
Java found in : /usr/bin
./osc.sh[117]: python: not found [No such file or directory]
dirname: missing operand
Try 'dirname --help' for more information.

Error: - Make sure Java version is 1.7. Use java -version to check.

Error: - Make sure 64-bit java executable is set in the PATH variable
Java Validation Completed. Status : FAIL

You confirmed Java 8 is installed successfully on the server using the "java -version" command.

As a result of the error, the schema creation process fails.  You do not understand why the error occurs because, as stated in the installation guide, OIDF 8.0 is certified with Java 8.
