Search in the Payments tab giving error while searching with first name or last name

In the Search tab under the Payments tab, while searching using first name or last name, it is giving SQL error. The search is working fine with other combinations like Account status, Account number etc. Only while searching with first name or last name, issue is there. The same when in the form of a query is executed in the database also, gives desired result. 

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

System should not throw the error message of the SQL query instead it should retrieve the matching data when user do a search on Payment's tab, using first name or last name.

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Goto the payment tab search screen.
2. Enter the first name and last name
3. Click on the search button and check system throwing the SQL error message or retrieving the matched records.

BUSINESS IMPACT

The issue has the following business impact:
Due to this issue, users cannot do search on the payment tab using first name and last name.
