Fusion PIM: Item Description Is Mandatory In Item Import Even When It Is Generated By EDQP (Data Quality) (Doc ID 1585683.1)

Last updated on MARCH 11, 2016

Applies to:

Oracle Fusion Product Hub - Version 11.1.6.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

On : 11.1.6.0.0 version, Manage Product/Service Data Quality-Cleanse Data

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR
Item description is mandatory in item import even when it is generated by EDQP (Enterprise Data Quality for Products)

System checks first if the item description is filled and then calls EDQP to generate the item description.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
PIM and EDQP should respect the setting for Data Quality to generate the description before data checking is performed.

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Create an import batch with items that do not have an item descriptions.
2. Configure PDQ in such a way that it generates the item descriptions (based on extensible attributes).
3. Test this with an item batch that does not contain item descriptions. It works fine for an item update (cross referenced item), because the item description is not required for those. However, the item import gives an error for new item because the item description is mandatory. This check is done before EDQP is called.

The issue has the following business impact:
Flexible use of the PIM / EDQP relationship for Product Item Description auto generation cannot be performed.
