Fusion PIM: Item descriptive flex-fields Not Becoming Mandatory (Doc ID 1634796.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 08, 2016

Applies to:

Oracle Fusion Product Model - Version and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Create a Purchasing descriptive flex field (DFF) and make this field as mandatory.

Now this created DFF can be found under
Create Item > Specifications> Additional Attributes.

By following this Navigation and on clicking Save and Close (without specifying the value of mandatory field), the application throws an error indicating a value is necessary for this field (rightly so) while creating an Item.

However, if user just navigate to specifications tab rather than Additional Attributes tab,  and clicks OK the items get created without even specifying the mandatory DFF values.

1. Follow the below steps:

Setup and Maintenance > Define Purchasing Configuration > Define master items for purchasing> define basic item > Define Item descriptive flex fields > create a segment with required check box enabled > deploy the flex field.

2. On create items page, the DFF is visible under Create Item > Specifications> Additional Attributes

3. If user navigate to above page and try to save and close the item , the application throws up an error, indicating a value to be added for this field, as desired.

4. However, if user do not navigate to Specifications tab and directly click on Save and close, the item gets created without even providing the DFF value which was marked mandatory.
