Fusion PIM: Allows Change To Value Of 'Pack Type' Attribute For Items Which Are Already In Pack Structure (Doc ID 2028732.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 15, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle Fusion Product Hub - Version 11.1.4.0.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

System allows users to change the value of 'Pack Type' attribute for items without validating hierarchy.

For example, if we have 3 items in a pack hierarchy as shown below.
1. Create 3 items:
New_Base (Pack type = Base Unit or Each)
New_case (Pack type = Case)
New_Pallet (Pack type = Pallet)

2. Define pack hierarchy:
20 New_Base = 1 New_Case
10 New Case = 1 New_Pallet
Pallet
   |__Case
           |__Base Unit or Each

3. Now go to Manage Items and change the pack type of New_base to Case. System saves the change without error.
New hierarchy is now:
Pallet
   |__Case
           |__Case

After this change, the pack structure is actually invalid as we will have a 'Case' above another 'Case' and then a 'Pallet' above it. This whole structure doesn't have a 'Base Unit' at all.
