Status Expired in Partners after creating

While creating Partners the default value for Status field is Prospective and after navigating to the Edit Partner page the Status is changed to Registered. Now for the "Manage User Details" link to appear in the Partner Contact page the Status field should be changed from Registered to Active Manually.
Is there any way to set the Status field to "Active" automatically after a Partner is changed to "Registered" or is there a way to default the Status field to "Active" after creating a Partner.
