Appointment Activity Is Not Showing In Completed Activities

Customer is automatically creating appointments using groovy scripts against opportunity and leads. And those appointments are showing properly in calendar.
Customer has a also a process in lead stating complete all activities where they will execute before 4:00 PM . When user clicks that the activity id is passed and updating the activity via web service and setting status code = 'COMPLETE' and percentage complete = 100.
The status is updated perfectly but the appointment is still showing in open activities and appearing in calendar.
Customer is asking what needs to be done to disappear the appointment in calendar and appear in completed activities.
