Unable to select Partner Account Name manually using an internal user on Deal UI

Requirement is that a Sales Administrator (Internal User) can create a deal registration request for a Partner User, and hence should be able to select Partner Account Name. Partner Account Name (API Name : PartnerPartyName) is a standard field which is prepopulated when a partner creates a deal. However, when a internal user logs in to deal and creates, the Partner Account Name field is blank and editable. While selecting a Partner from the drop down, an ADF error is displayed.
