Highlighting A Field Via Adf.error.addAttribute() Not Working

ACTUAL BEHAVIOR

Highlighting a field via adf.error.addAttribute() not working

Trying to enforce a field to be mandatory via an Account Object validation using the following script:

if(!CustomField_c) {
  adf.error.addAttribute('CustomField_c')
  return false
}
return true


The script works, but user was expecting that the field CustomField is highlighted when the error is thrown, but this doesn't happen.


EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

The field should be highlighted with a red mark instead of a pop-up message being displayed

STEPS
-----------------------
The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:
1. Add the validation in the Account object
2. Create or update an Account and leave the CustomField blank
3. Verify that you cannot save the record but the when pushing save the field is not highlighted in red

BUSINESS IMPACT

The issue has the following business impact:
Due to this issue, users cannot verify easily which field is required
