Dynamically linked tables do not refresh automatically in context

Steps -
Define a Layout page
Position tables/ graphs on the layout page
Navigate to one of these tables, and update the Links to other tables/ graphs in the layout
save the table definition, and save the layout of the table.
save the layout page as well.
change the layout page to something else.
Switch back to the earlier layout and click on a measure value at an intersection (e.g. Item, organization).
the linked graph data will not refresh.
instead, right click and drill to the same graph and then the graph refreshes.
Once the manual drill to action is performed, after that further clicks trigger the automatic refresh of data in dependent graphs as desired.

Why do we have to remember to manually drill-to, before the automatic refresh ability kicks in?
