How to provide renewal terms while creating a subscription ?

When we create a subscription, the renewal terms are defaulted from the renewal template. However, the renewal terms vary from customer to customer and we would like to maintain a renewal term at the subscription level. MinimumRenewalDurationUsed and MinimumRenewalPeriodUsed are not available during creation of a subscription .
