Symptoms

Windows XP HVM guest keep crashing with Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD)

A problem has been detected and windows has been shutdown to prevent to your computer.

The problem seems to be caused by the following file:

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

If this is a first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check for virus on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drivers or hard driver controllers. Check your hard driver to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard driver corruption, and then restart your computer.

After a fresh Windows XP install as an HVM guest, follow the usual course of applying Microsoft security patches.  

After installing some software, the BSOD presents.
