NFS Performance Decline Introduced by Mount Option "actimeo=0" (Doc ID 1164673.1)

Symptoms


System call is slow  on nfs volume with nfs muont option below:

"rw,hard,nointr,proto=tcp,nfsvers=3,bg,rsize=32768,wsize=32768,actimeo=0,timeo=600,addr=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx"

When running Oracle RAC and 'actimeo=0" is required. So do not remove 'actimeo=0" when Oracle RAC running on this system. See details about mount options for Oracle files when used with NFS on NAS devices in Note  359515.1.
