Only One of the Multiple NICs Configured in the Same Subnet Works on Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel

(Doc ID 1252266.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 27, 2010

Applies to:

Linux OS - Version: 5.5 and later   [Release: OEL5U5 and later ]
Linux x86-64

When setting up iSCSI multipathing with DELL EqualLogic storage, it is required to have 2 network interface cards (NIC) going through different switches to reach the same storage where both NICs are configured in the same subnet.

After installing the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel (2.6.32-100.0.19 or later) the network is limited to go through only one NIC.

With the Red Hat compatible kernel (2.6.18* on Oracle Linux 5), the network traffic can go out through both NICs.

Installed and booted with Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel.
