Bad NFS I/O Performance For Guest VM On Oracle VM Server 2.2.2 Which Use Intel 82599EB NIC (Doc ID 1342912.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 04, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle VM - Version 2.2.2 to 2.2.2 [Release OVM222]
Linux x86
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

A cluster which worked well under Oracle VM 2.2.1 has abysmally-poor performance under Oracle VM 2.2.2; for example, shutdown of the Oracle Database, which uses DirectNFS, may take more than 30 minutes.  Also copying large files takes an inordinate amount of time.

Changes

Deploy a guest VM from Oracle VM Server 2.2.1 to Oracle VM Server 2.2.2 and observe the performance degradation.  No changes are required to the Oracle VM guest itself, just move it to an Oracle VM Server 2.2.2 cluster.
