Cannot Add More Than Four Disks To A Solaris 10 Guest Under Oracle VM (Doc ID 1418053.1)

Solaris 10 guest VMs are restricted to four or fewer block devices, such as disks or CDROM?DVD drives.


Symptoms

Even though the PV drivers are loaded on the Solaris 10 OVM virtual guest, no more than four disks can be defined.  Attempting to add a fifth device produces:


OVMRU_005037E Disk Mapping: 0004fb00001300003800df6f61902141, Device Type: Emulated, Target Number: 4. An emulated disk device type cannot have a target number greater than 3
