Last updated on MAY 01, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle VM - Version 3.2.1 and later
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - Version N/A and later
Linux x86-64

Goal

Section "7.8. Importing a Virtual Machine" of the OVM 3.2 Users Guide describes how a virtual machine can be imported into a server pool from http, https or ftp resources, which can be templates or the files that make up a virtual machine.

7.8. Importing a Virtual Machine

This document provides further information and considerations.

Importing a Virtual Machine to OVM 3.2 from an OVM 2.x repository might be complicated by the resources defined to the VM, such as:

- Virtual CD/DVD ISO files

- Shared Virtual Disks

The structure of the repositories in OVM3 is different to that of OVM2, thus it might not be appropriate to import such resources in the same job as that used to import the VM.
