How to Configure 'kdump' for Oracle VM 3.2.x (Doc ID 1520837.1)

Last updated on MAY 04, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle VM - Version 3.2.1 to 3.2.11 [Release OVM32]
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - Version N/A and later
Linux x86-64

Goal

If an Oracle VM Server (physical server) encounters a dom0-wide problem (like a crash, hang, reboot etc.) the system memory dump (vmcore) would be very useful for the problem analysis to find the root cause of the issue. To be able to get a useful vmcore dump, a proper kdump service configuration will be required.
