Linux x86
Goal
The Oracle VM Installation and Upgrade Guide for Release 3.2.1 - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E35328_01/E35330/E35330.pdf - advises of backups that should be taken prior to upgrade, detailed in section "4.12. Backing Up Oracle VM Manager"
However, additional tasks should be performed in case of problems that might be encountered during an upgrade:
- prior to the database schema backup, a check should be made to ensure the database objects do not have a detected corruption
- if such a corruption is detected, it must be corrected prior to attempting an upgrade
- a vmpinfo3 report should be generated and kept
- pool filesystems should be backed up
