When using Emulex Corporation OneConnect 10Gb NIC and Oracle VM 3.2.x you may notice network disconnects or you are being unable to establish a connection, the following scenarios have been observed,
- your Oracle VM servers are being fencing because ocfs2 is complaining about a lost network connection
- you are unable to establish a network connection to a running VM or an existing connection is suddenly lost
- your Oracle VM Manager is unable to establish a network connection to the Oracle VM server
When encountering this problem you will notice an increase in the rx_drops_no_frags counter, eg:
this counter is only a side effect, not the cause of this problem. Using VLANs increases the chance of hitting this bug. Firmware versions do not seem to play a role for this issue, firmware version 2.102.517.7, 3.102.517.701, 4.1.402.8 and 4.1.450.7-2 were tested during the analysis.
Oracle VM 3.2.x uses the uek2 2.6.39-300 kernel.
