How to Configure Oracle VM Manager Weblogic to Connect to OVS Database Schema on Oracle RAC (Doc ID 1549703.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 04, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle VM - Version 3.0.3 and later
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - Version N/A and later
Linux x86
Linux x86-64

Goal

You have installed Oracle VM using the "custom" method, specifying the information documented in the Install Guide.

You now wish to move the Oracle VM Manager database schema (default name "OVS") to a RAC / Dataguard managed database.

However, such configurations require the Oracle Net "connect string" to specify "SERVICE_NAME=" rather than "SID=".

Further, whilst simply changing the defined Weblogic Data Source to be able to connect to a RAC SCAN ("Single Client Access Name") will work, to take advantage of RAC high-availability features, the WebLogic Data Source component needs to be configured to listen for FAN ("Fast Application Notification") events.
