Purpose

Oracle VM 3 (OVM) uses a variety of files on both the OVM Manager host and the virtualization servers.  User data sets are usually kept on external storage which are managed by the Storage Administrator.  Knowing what files OVM uses will help you perform your own troubleshooting and will help you choose the proper backup strategy.

Scope

This document is intended for OVM administrators.  Users of OVM guests do not need the herein information.
